About Snake Classic

Snake Classic is a free browser arcade game built around one clean rule: keep moving and keep growing. Your snake starts four segments long on an orchard grid. Ordinary berries are worth 10 points, and every berry makes the snake longer. A golden star appears from time to time, stays on the board for a limited number of moves, and is worth 50 points. Every five bites raises the level, shortening the move interval from 200 ms by 10 ms per level until it reaches a playable floor of 80 ms. The run ends when the snake touches a wall, a tail segment, or one of the optional orchard obstacles. There is no final level, so the only limit is how long you can keep the line alive. Your best score is stored by the HappyBiu Shell and shown on the game page and the in-game end card.

How to play

  • Steer with the arrow keys or W A S D. On touch screens, swipe the board or use the direction pad below it.
  • Press Space or P to pause and resume. R starts a fresh run.
  • Berries score 10. Timed golden stars score 50 and never replace a berry.
  • Every five bites raises the level. Speed starts at 200 ms per move and stops accelerating at 80 ms.
  • The snake cannot reverse into itself. Rapid direction changes are queued, so a fast corner still works.
  • Use the board edge as a wall. Optional obstacle runs can be opened with ?obstacles=1 on this page URL (not available on daily boards).
  • Add ?seed=YYYYMMDD to this page URL for a daily challenge. The date fixes the starting position, food order and golden-star rolls for every player. Daily boards are locked to 18 × 18 so the run is identical on phones and desktops.
  • Endless runs adapt the grid to the available board size: 16 × 16 on compact screens, 18 × 18 on mid-size boards, 20 × 20 on desktop.

Controls and accessibility

The playfield is a keyboard-focusable canvas with a text description, and every direction button has an accessible name. The first arrow or WASD press on the page focuses the game, so no extra click is needed. Pause, resume, restart and the end card are all reachable by keyboard. Important events such as level ups, golden stars and game over are announced through a polite live region, and the game honours prefers-reduced-motion by removing shake, particle bursts and decorative looping motion while keeping the full game playable. The Shell sound button is the only audio switch; the game follows it, starts muted until the Shell says otherwise, and never autoplays audio.

Privacy

Snake Classic runs inside a sandboxed iframe. It does not collect personal data, does not load analytics, advertising or social tracking scripts, and does not ask for consent itself. Inputs stay on the device. The only value shared with the Shell is the best score, sent with game:save so the platform can keep it in the game's own local-storage namespace. If the Host reports that storage consent is unavailable, the game keeps the best score in memory for the session and skips the save.
