About 2048 Merge

2048 Merge is a free browser puzzle game built on the classic 4×4 merge board. Slide every tile in one direction; matching numbers collide into a single tile worth twice as much, and each block can merge only once per move. A new 2 or 4 appears after every valid slide, so the board keeps tightening. Reach the 2048 tile to win the milestone, then keep going for 4096 and beyond. Your best score is stored by the HappyBiu Shell, you can undo one move per game, and a daily seed lets you replay the exact same opening sequence. Keyboard and touch controls are both supported, in portrait and landscape. A generated pixel merge-lab backdrop and a calm procedural soundtrack follow the Shell sound control, so the game stays silent whenever you mute the site.

How to play

  • Use the arrow keys or WASD to slide the board; on touch screens, swipe directly across the board.
  • Two equal tiles merge into one tile with double the value. A tile can only merge once per move.
  • Press U or Ctrl+Z to undo one move. Undo never lowers your best score.
  • Press P or Escape to pause. The Shell also pauses when the page loses focus.
  • Append ?seed=YYYYMMDD to replay a daily board, or use the daily seed link.

Pixel lab, sound and privacy

The board is drawn on a device-pixel canvas with a 3×5 bitmap font, hard 1-pixel edges and stepped animation, so every tile stays crisp at any size. Tiles, borders, panels, dialogs and buttons use the same 16px art grid and shared pixel tokens, with light and dark merge-lab scenes generated from games/2048-merge/art-brief.json. Slide, merge, undo, invalid move, pause, resume, win and game over each have a matching animation and a procedural sound cue. The soundtrack starts only after a gesture, follows the Shell sound control, and stops when paused or hidden. No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts run inside the iframe. Only the best score is saved through game:save; when the Host reports minimal storage, the game remains fully playable without saving.
