About Arrowtrace

Arrowtrace is an endless animal-shaped arrow puzzle that runs entirely in your browser. Every level is generated from a recognizable cat, rabbit, fish, turtle, butterfly, or owl silhouette. The outline is packed with winding arrow routes, and only an arrow whose head has a clear path can leave the board. Tap the right route and it follows every bend before sliding away. Tap a blocked route and the arrow bumps into the nearest obstacle, loses a heart, and retracts. Blocked arrows remember the attempt, so clearing the routes in front of them can trigger a satisfying chain reaction. Each run gives you three hearts and an automatic countdown. Clear the whole silhouette to advance to a fresh, deterministic level, or restart instantly and try to find a cleaner solution.

How to play

  • Tap or click an arrow whose route is not blocked in front.
  • On touch screens, tap once to select a route, then press Clear route.
  • Use the hint button to highlight one safe route without clearing it.
  • Zoom with the − and + buttons, or pinch the board on touch screens.
  • Keyboard: arrow keys select, Enter clears, H hints, and Esc pauses.

Pixel trail, sound and privacy

Every board is drawn as crisp pixel routes on an integer grid. The background, cover and interface use the same 16px pixel system, with a light and dark forest-trail scene generated from games/arrowtrace/art-brief.json. Route selection, clears, blocks, hints, zoom, pause, resume, level clears and failures each have a matching animation and a procedural sound cue. The gentle trail score is generated in the browser, starts only after a gesture, follows the Shell sound control and stops when paused or hidden. No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts run inside the iframe. Only the next level number is saved through game:save; when the Host reports minimal storage, the game remains fully playable without saving.
