Dirt Dash
Ride a small interceptor bike across endless procedural hills. Throttle, brake and shift your weight to launch over crests, land cleanly and collect coins without flipping the bike.
About Dirt Dash
Dirt Dash is an original free browser physics bike game. The trail is an endless height map: every segment is generated from the current run seed and difficulty, with rolling crests, short ramps and gentle dips. The bike uses a small custom two-wheel rigid body—gravity, ground normals, spring suspension, tyre friction, bounce and lean torque are simulated without a third-party physics engine. Throttle builds speed, brake slows or reverses, a grounded hop launches the bike over rocks and logs, and shifting weight changes the bike’s pitch in the air and on landings. Distance, coins and clean landings all matter. Obstacles knock the bike's balance but do not cost health; a rough landing only loses the clean bonus. Random steep hills require a wheelie on the climb and a nose-down lean on the descent, while dark peaks must be jumped. A flip ends the ride, so a careful rider can continue indefinitely. Continuing with the Shell rewarded flow puts the bike back on the trail with a short safety window.
How to play
- Right arrow / D is throttle. Left arrow / A is brake and reverse.
- Up arrow / W leans the rider back; Down arrow / S leans forward. Use these to control wheelies, jumps and landings.
- Space / K jumps when a wheel is on the ground. Time it to clear rocks, logs and dark mountain peaks, then lean to land flat.
- Red warning markers mark tall obstacles. Yellow arrows mark kicker ramps; lean to land flat.
- On steep climbs hold W / Lean up to lift the front wheel; on steep descents hold S / Lean down to press the nose down.
- Obstacles bump the bike's balance but do not cost health. A flip ends the ride; stay upright to continue indefinitely.
- On touch screens use Gas, Brake, Jump, Lean up and Lean down at the bottom of the screen.
- Press P or the pause button to pause. The Shell pause card can resume the ride.
- Add
?seed=YYYYMMDDto the page URL to replay the same trail for that day.
Distance, coins and records
- Score combines metres travelled, collected coins, and clean-landing bonuses. Coins are worth 25 points each.
- Longer rides increase the score and difficulty; difficulty has a playable cap.
- Best score and longest distance are saved through the Shell on this device.
- Fuel is intentionally not used in this version; the focus is distance, balance and coins.
Accessibility and original content
The trail is a focusable canvas with an accessible description. Every button
has a name, touch targets are at least 44×44 pixels, and the game can be
paused and restarted from the keyboard or the Shell toolbar. Important
events such as a new record, a crash and a continue are announced through a
polite live region. The game honours prefers-reduced-motion by
removing camera shake, dust bursts and decorative loops while keeping the
full physics simulation playable. The game name, bike, rider, terrain,
layered parallax flora, coins, pixel art, music and sound effects are
original or generated in this repository; no third-party characters,
audio, level layouts or trademarks are used.
Privacy
Dirt Dash runs inside a sandboxed iframe. It does not collect personal data,
does not load analytics, advertising or social tracking scripts, and does
not request consent itself. Only the best score, longest distance and coin
total are sent through game:save for the Shell to store in this
game's own local-storage namespace. If the Host reports that storage is
unavailable, the ride still works and the values stay in memory for the session.
